Add strength, stability and durability to the foundation of your home.
STONE FOUNDATION PROTOCOL
From inside the basement of a typical Vermont older home we have access to the stone, brick or concrete block Foundation. For a complete repair and restoration the following steps will be taken:
CLEANING
Disintegrated mortar, dirt and sand would be scraped and chipped out from all mortar, joints between the stones and then the whole surface vacuumed to prep for mortar.
MORTAR INJECTION
A “grout bag” (which is like a large pastry bag) is filled with mortar and injected into all the deeper holes and gaps.
TUCK POINTING
With a trowel and pointing tool all joints are “re-pointed” with new mortar, voids and recessed areas are further built out.
FINISH COATS
Multiple layers of a finish coat mortar mix (stucco) are applied with a large trowel for maximum durability, air seal and to mitigate infiltration of water. Our work is all masonry so it will “breathe”
END RESULT
Walls are preserved! Strong and clean with a hand troweled old world look.

ABOUT US
specializing in the repair, restoration and preservation of stone, brick and basement walls & foundations.
I am personally involved in every project Along with two talented employees.
Around 2005 I began working for and learning from a mason who specialized in restoration of historic brick and stone buildings. Using traditional methods and materials we repaired and restored 18th and 19th century Libraries, Town Halls and Churches. That same year I also worked for and learned from a French Canadian “dry waller” with whom we built walls, foundations, patios and steps out of just stone.
By 2007 I was working on my own with training and experience in both traditional masonry and dry-stack stone walling. Since then it has been full-time masonry, and I have had the privilege of working on countless projects here in Central Vermont for great folks. Now I am specializing in the repair, restoration and preservation of stone, brick and basement walls & foundations. I am personally involved in every project long with two talented employees.
Email me to set-up a time to look at your basement walls and foundation.
Thanks!

Our Happy Clients
“The home had significant issues with the basement foundation …
Duffy’s scope included repointing, stabilizing and coating our stacked stone walls with concrete. Duffy is as much a competent contractor as an artist. A good mason is extremely hard to find let alone one who truly values his work. Duffy was on time, communicated exceptionally well, and most important did an exceptional job.”
